The SusTraIN Project

Review of training material collected by the SusTraIN NetDRIVE Community project

Scientific progress in UKRI-funded research increasingly depends on sizable, cutting-edge computing resources to enable the analysis of complex datasets. Needs have grown significantly with the advent of large machine learning models for data analysis and information processing at all stages of the research lifecycle.

The SusTraIN project will support the transition of DRIs towards environmentally sustainable computing through the creation of training resources and reproducible workflow examples, designed for diverse stakeholder groups, including researchers, digital research technical professionals (dRTPs), infrastructure managers, and students. These resources will be hosted on a light-weight accessible training infrastructure that can be sustained in time and become a source for NetDRIVE and UKRI platforms.

This project will provide training material to be included in catalogues, and a living review of green software training and good practices to support the Net Zero transition of DRI stakeholders. Procedures to collect and include further material in EVERSE-TeSS, and to seamlessly include selected material into a central UKRI hub (as per UKRI-Net-Zero scoping report recommendations ) will also be developed.
